Why We Are Launching GEE-MLC in Amman, Jordan
Michigan Language Center’s mission has always been to empower people to succeed. We opened our training center in 1978 in Ann Arbor, Michigan – home of the University of Michigan – with this mission in mind. We wanted to help international students not only perform better in their classes, but also adjust to living in America.
Since 1978, our accredited institution has trained over 50,000 students from hundreds of different countries. Alumni have enrolled in top universities, advanced their professional careers, launched companies, and started new lives in America or other English-speaking countries.
We’ve also created pathway programs for international students to achieve college-level English proficiency prior to beginning academic studies at a university . Most recently, we’ve begun offering our intensive English classes online, so that students can study English from any location.
In recent years, we have greatly expanded our ability to train people living anywhere, not just in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We work with corporate clients across the US and overseas to offer customized Professional English and Communication training programs, both onsite and online.
Today, we are excited to announce our partnership with GEE MENA. This partnership continues our mission to train people all over the world. We are launching a physical center in Amman, Jordan and an online school in the gulf region. Through the new center and school, we will empower more students to achieve their dreams of studying in the United States, and help companies train their employees in communication and leadership skills.
About GEE MENA
GEE MENA was founded by Mohamad Issa, a first-generation immigrant, father, and successful businessman, who was driven to provide the community with an educational experience that focused on culture, language, character education, and provide students and their families with a safe and welcoming learning environment. He helped found one of the first charter schools in Michigan, Central Academy of Ann Arbor, in 1996.
Many communities were facing similar challenges with the educational options available to them. This mission to ensure students have access to quality education ultimately evolved into a movement with Global Educational Excellence (GEE) opening in 1998.
Today, GEE academies are home to over 4,500 students and 500 employees across fourteen campuses located in the United States and seven additional campuses overseas. GEE campuses house nursery schools, early childhood centers, and PreK-12 public school academies. GEE’s unique partnerships with higher education institutions and education partners support our vision to be globally recognized as a pioneer in the advancement of comprehensive educational systems for critical language-oriented academies and institutions. GEE is accredited by COGNIA (formerly AdvancEd).
